About Beautiful People Sports
Mission
The mission of Beautiful People is to build bridges between children with disabilities and their families and the broader community of Orange County by providing adaptive sports for children and young adults, age 5 and up.
Vision
We are a community sports organization that enables joy, inspires hope, and fulfills dreams among children with disabilities and their families. We see that vision playing out in significant positive changes observed by parents as to their child’s socialization, self-esteem, coordination, agility and mobility.
History
Beautiful People is a non-profit, 501(c)3 organization founded by Peter J. Ladka in 2006, headquartered in Warwick, NY. The first endeavor of Beautiful People began in 2007 with a baseball program in conjunction with Miracle League, a national organization that has been providing baseball for children with disabilities since 2000.
Since these humble beginnings, we have added additional programs including adaptive basketball during the winter months for children and young adults of all ability levels. We also launched adaptive outdoor and indoor soccer programs during the fall. These programs are disbursed throughout Orange County and are only possible with the generous collaboration of OU BOCES in Goshen, Middletown High School and Hudson Sports Complex.
In the summer of 2018, we officially opened the gates to our fully adaptive rubberized baseball field that is located in Wickham Woodlands in Warwick, NY.
Programs
Registration is open for upcoming seasons of baseball, soccer and basketball year-round. Children and young adults with developmental and physical disabilities, ages 5 and up are welcome to play.
Volunteers
Youth and adult volunteers are needed as “buddies” who pair up one on one with our athletes for as much help as is required for each player. For details, contact us at 845-986-5944 or mary@beautiful-people.us.
