An Announcement from our Executive Director about COVID-19 and Spring Baseball 2020

Beautiful People families,

Normally in late March, we’d all be looking forward to an exciting baseball season, making plans to bring together our community for a few hours of fun and camaraderie every Saturday. Unfortunately, however, these are not normal times.

Following the recommendations of the CDC, World Health Organization and local government officials, our board and staff has concluded that we have an obligation to postpone our upcoming baseball season until further notice.  While we are disappointed to bring you this news, we are certain that it is in the best interests of our athletes, volunteers and their families.

If you are in search of information on how best to help your child through these uncertain times, there are several helpful resources on the CDC’s website: https://www.cdc.gov/childrenindisasters/helping-children-cope.html. Our team is also in search of online exercise programs for children to share during this time of isolation.

We will continue to update the Beautiful People community on the scheduling of programs as this crisis subsides. If you have any questions or concerns, you can respond to this email or call our office phone number at 845-986-5944.

We know that this is not an easy time for our athletes and their families and we are here to support you in any way that we can.

Sincerely,

Mary Williams

Baseball Regular Season

Season: April thru June

Location: Beautiful People’s Field of Dreams in Wickham Woodlands, Warwick, NY

Date & Time: Sundays, 10:00-12:15

How it works:

The intention is to learn, play, exercise and socialize. Our team sports are designed for children and young adults with disabilities throughout Orange County and the surrounding areas. A teen or adult “buddy”, or parent if preferred, will be paired up with our players as needed. We encourage our parents/guardians to sit back and enjoy the game.

Baseball players will be assigned to a one hour session of play based on their age and ability. Coaches will do their best to place each BP athlete within the session that most matches their capabilities. If you feel there is a better session for your athlete, please contact your child’s coach.
